Deep Nature Connection
I feel there’s a number of reasons for that – such as the mass migration over the last 100 years from rural area’s to the cities, an underlying cultural fear of nature and a loosely coined condition known as ‘Nature Deficit Disorder’.
However, biologically human beings are hard-wired to be in a deeply connected visceral feeling relationship with nature. This is our birthright.
Traditional indigenous cultures had such a relationship with nature – each day they were fully immersed within nature. They had the natural experience of being at ‘one’ with nature where the boundary between where they ended and nature began had simply dissolved.
That’s because this way of experiencing the world is our natural state.
I first consciously experienced this sense of ‘oneness’ with nature back in 1996 whilst fully immersed within nature for a full 12 months at the age of 19. Since then I have been on a quest to not only understand what that experience was but to also re-create the conditions that lead to it.
In that time I have found there are a handful of techniques that when practiced lead to an experience of ‘oneness’ with all things. This understanding has come from reading hundreds of books on nature connection, attending dozens of workshops and more importantly spending thousands of hours fully immersed within nature.
Through sharing these practices and exercises with other people, I have also found that within a short period of time nearly everyone that is exposed to this work is able to have deeply moving and profound experiences within nature.
That’s probably because this deep way of experiencing the world is a latent ability within every human being. From the feedback from workshop participants, it’s not like people ‘learn’ how to reconnect at such a deep level with nature. It’s more of a ‘remembering’ that has largely been forgotten.
People often ask me the question ‘What is Deep Nature Connection?’
Well, I guess there are quite a few definitions but to me it’s about the deep visceral feeling of connection with nature. In short it is felt within your body, where there is no separation between what is happening on the ‘outside’ as to what’s happening on the ‘inside’. This is when the feeling of oneness with all things occurs as an experience throughout your being.
Participants in the training programs also report a deep sense of peace and calm returning to their way of being when they reconnect with this natural sense of connection with nature. In the ‘Deep Nature Connection Program’ you will learn six techniques you can practice to return yourself with this natural connection.
It is through practicing these skills and techniques that people often report a sense of ‘oneness’ with all things and a deep sense of peace and calm in how they operate in the world.
