Expressing Your True Nature In The World
When you immerse yourself in nature for an extended period of time you will begin to discover the essence of who you really are. For most people it’s a sense of ‘Ohhh… this is who I really am’.
So this is a space within yourself where you’re not ‘trying’ to be anything. In fact it’s the opposite – you’re just being who it is you really are. Some people report this as discovering their ‘true nature in nature’.
Yet when we eventually return to the ‘ordinary’ world most people have a really, really difficult time being who it is they really are in the world.
There are pressures to perform. There are expectations to ‘excel’. And there is the perception that we need to ‘fit in’.
And the more times you experience the sense of who you really are, the louder and louder it becomes when you are not being who you really are. You’ll feel it in your body as tension. You’ll experience in your being as stress. And you’ll notice it in a lack of flow in your life.
This used to happen to me every Monday morning when I’d return from the weekend in the bush and enter the corporate doors in a suit. I just felt clunky and completely out of place.
Yet we all have a very, very unique gift we are born to share with the world.
When people say “He’s a natural at that”… then you know someone is expressing their unique gift in the world. Everyone has this natural gift within, however most people I see are not fully living their lives in alignment with their gift.
For example, I used to work in the corporate world as an Engineer. I always felt like I was a round peg in a square hole. Something just didn’t feel right about it. However at the weekends I would go out and immerse myself in National Parks and come back into the essence of who I really was. After a while I used to ‘dread’ Monday mornings when I’d have to put on my shirt and tie and go back into the corporate world again.
The more I immersed myself in the wonder and mystery of nature and connected with ‘who I really am’, the larger the gap appeared between that and the life I was living. It came to a point that I could just no longer continue doing what I was doing. The more I immersed myself in nature, the louder this disparity became.
I tried to deny it, but inside I just knew I needed to align my inner and outer worlds. And that was the start of the journey to express my true nature with the world.
Naturally, there was a transition period to re-align my outer world with my unique inner gift. And that transition was not an easy path to walk.
However, now it just feels so natural for me to be doing this Deep Nature Connection work. It just feels like this is what I was put on the planet to do. I literally can’t wait to get up in the morning to either write about it, make a video about it, structure a new program or simply go out and be immersed within nature.
The way I see it is that everyone on the planet has come here to discover and share who they really are with the world. Everyone has it within. For some it is clear, like a large bonfire burning brightly in the night. For others it is like the gentle flicker of a candle in the corner of the room. However, within everyone there is that spark of what they came to the planet to share. No matter how deeply it may be buried – the spark is always there within everyone.
To find this spark, it’s just a matter of going within. Right into the middle of your heart center. Within this space there is a universal wisdom. The voice of the heart is often subtle and gentle and most often sounds like a gentle whisper. Yet it’s a matter of staying with it and listening to what your heart has to say. For this is your inner nature.
I write more about this subtle inner voice in my book ‘The Heart Walk’, however it is a subtle and gentle voice within. Almost like a shy little child. Sometimes it can be loud and courageous, however for the most part I hear it as a small, gentle voice within that only says a few words at a time.
So if you are wanting to find what your unique gift is then I encourage you to spend time going within and asking your heart at a deeper level. You’ll probably find it’s message is closely related to what you love to do.
